Norfolk, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 7-5 Saturday at Harbor Park. The win kept the Braves South Division title hopes alive and moved them one win away from wrapping up the Wild Card.
The Braves erupted for six runs in the second inning. Doug Clark knocked in a run with a single. He scored on a Brent Lillibridge sacrifice fly. Iker Franco and Brandon Jones each knocked in a pair of runs with singles to give the Braves a 6-0 lead. The Tides rallied in the home half for three runs. Cesar Crespo chased two runs home with a single and scored on a single by Travis Brown. The Tides cut the Braves lead to 6-5 in the third on a two-run homer by Val Majewski. Richmond bumped the lead to 7-5 in the fifth on Doug Clark's 15th home run of the season.
Buddy Hernandez picked up the win. Joey Devine notched a save. Hayden Penn took the loss. Clark and Larry Bigbie had three hits each for the Braves. Crespo and Terry Tiffee had two hits for the Tides.
