Buchanan's Blast Overpowers Power

CHARLESTON, WV. - The Lexington Legends rallied from a four run deficit to post a 7-5 win over West Virginia on Thursday night at Appalachian Power Park. Three runs came in the top of the ninth inning to escape a loss. Greg Buchanan's two run shot was the game winner.

Kyle DeYoung got the win in relief. DeYoung (5-8) worked two scoreless innings allowing just two base hits.

West Virginia got things started in the second inning on a double by Taylor Green and a passed ball by Ralphie Henriquez. The Legends tied it in the third inning on Greg Buchanan's RBI single.

West Virginia took the lead again with a triple by Charlie Fermaint and a ground out by Jimmy Mojica in the bottom half of the third. The Power assumed a 5-1 lead thanks to three runs in the fourth inning. Two scored on Brent Brewer's homer.

Legends chipped a way at the West Virginia lead with a run in the sixth inning on Eric Taylor's double. Lexington scored two eighth inning runs to get within 5-4 setting up the three run ninth.

Nick Moresi got the ninth started with a two out triple. Nick scored on an error by Taylor Green. Buchanan scored Ronnie Ramirez on his homer to ice the game.

The Legends return to Applebee's Park to wrap up the 2007 season. Lexington will host Hickory for a three game set beginning Saturday night at 7:05pm. Fans can buy tickets by calling the box office at 422-RUNS or online at www.lexingtonlegends.com.
