Baysox Split Double Dip

(Bowie, MD) - The Baysox finished up last night's suspended game, by walking off on Trenton today in the 11th inning, when Nolan Reimold, who was 0-for-4 when last night's game was suspended in the eighth inning, came up big with his first hit of the night, a walk-off homerun in the 10th to give the Baysox a 5-4 win. The homer marked Reimold's 9th of the season, which led off the inning off of Steven Jackson, it was the Jackson's first pitch of the game. Rommie Lewis picked up the win in relief to move to (5-4) on the season, going 2.1 innings, giving up no hits with only one walk.

Trenton jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the series finale, which started at 7:45 pm, approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. Mike Kinkade singled home former Baysox Noah Hall, who reached on a double, to give the Thunder the early lead.

The Baysox would strike back in the bottom of the second, on a Jeff Fiorentino two-run homer, scoring Luis Jimenez, who reached on a walk putting the Baysox ahead, 2-1.

The Thunder however, would put up what proved to be an insurmountable five runs on the board in the top of the fourth, capped by a Noah Hall homer to left, a two-run shot, putting the Thunder ahead, 6-2.

The Baysox would cut the Trenton lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the frame, on a Luis Jimenez sac fly, scoring Luis Montanez from third.

Trenton would put up two more runs in the top of the fifth, Mike Kinkade struck again, this time with a two-run home run putting the Thunder ahead, 8-3.

Luis Hernandez hit into an RBI groundout, scoring Bryan Bass in the bottom of the frame, cutting the lead to 8-4.

David Haehnel then relieved starter Oscar Alvarez and gave up only three hits over the final three innings of the game. The Baysox however, only combined for two hits over the final three innings of the ballgame and the Baysox were sat down in order in the ninth with Bryan Bass flying out to right for the final out of the ballgame, securing the win for Trenton, 8-4.

Baysox starter Oscar Alvarez took the loss for the Baysox going 6.0 innings, giving up seven hits and eight runs, including two homers, with one walk. Daniel McCutchen moved to 3-1 with the victory, going 6.0 innings, while giving up only four hits.

The Baysox now open a critical four game series with Erie starting on Thursday at 7:05 pm at Prince George's Stadium. Erie defeated Akron 7-4 tonight, so the Baysox trail Akron by 2.5 games for the final playoff spot in the Eastern League Southern Division.

Wednesday is also the final bobble head giveaway for the Baysox this season. The Baysox will be giving away Nick Markakis bobble heads, suited up in a Baysox uniform, to the first 1,250 fans through the gates on Thursday, ages six and up, sponsored by Pressbox.
