Reading Fightin Phils News Release

Reading, PA -- The Altoona Curve, struggling to score runs recently, scored three runs in the 10th inning Wednesday and ended a six-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Phillies.

Brett Roneberg knocked in the go-ahead run with a two-out single to right. After a walk to Adam Boeve, Jason Delaney delivered a two-run single, all the runs coming off Chris Key (5-2), the fourth Phillies pitcher.

At gametime, the Curve (65-62) had scored just one run in their previous 30 innings.

The Phillies (65-63), who lost a five-game winning streak, had taken a 2-1 lead in the fourth on Peeter Ramos' hard two-run single up the middle after the Curve walked Greg Jacobs intentionally to load the bases. Russ Johnson's homer in the first off Chris Rojas had ended a home scoreless streak of 24 innings put up by Phillies pitchers.

Johnson, sent down from Triple-A five days ago, tied it 2-2 leading off the sixth with his third homer in six games.

Neither starting pitcher was involved in the decision. Rojas, subbing for Gary Knotts, who was called to Triple-A after his one-hit shutout effort Thursday against Erie, pitched well. He allowed two runs on six hits, with three walks and two strikeouts. His opposite, Luis Munoz, also went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with two walks.

Romulo Sanchez (6-3) got the win with three scoreless innings; Matt Peterson pitched a perfect ninth for his 24th save.

Rod Barajas, on the second game of his major league rehab stint, went 1-for-3, catching the last six innings.
