August 22, 2007 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Wilson Batista was 3 for 4 with a homer, but the Binghamton Mets still fell to the Portland Sea Dogs 10-2 at Hadlock Field Wednesday. The B-Mets won the first two games of the three-game set.

Portland (65-62) got to B-Mets starter Salvador Aguilar in the first. After walking the first two hitters, Aguilar (7-8) allowed an RBI single to Bryan Pritz and a Chad Spann sacrifice fly before Jay Johnson's two-run double put the Sea Dogs ahead 4-0.

The B-Mets (55-72) got one of the runs back when Batista led off the fourth by homering to right off Michael Bowden. However, that was all Bowden (8-4) would allow over six innings.

Portland put the game away with a five-run sixth, which included five walks - including one to Cory Keylor with the bases loaded - sacrifice flies by Pritz and Spann and a two-run single by Iggy Suarez, giving Portland a 9-1 lead. Pritz added an RBI double in the seventh.

Binghamton scored the game's final run in the ninth. Brett Harper led off with a single before Jamar Hill reached on an error and Edwards Guzman singled to load the bases. Vince Harrison then hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Harper.

Thursday, the Binghamton Mets continue their seven-game road trip with the opener of a four-game series against the Trenton Thunder. Michael Devaney (4-8, 5.22) will start for the B-Mets against Jeff Marquez (13-8, 3.52) of Trenton. Game time is 7:05 from Waterfront Park with the radio broadcast starting at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF. Notes: B-Mets pitchers walked a season-high 11...Aguilar has allowed 19 runs in his last three starts (12 2/3 IP)...the B-Mets finished with a 6-1 record at Hadlock Field in 2007. They are 13-5 in Portland over the last two seasons.
