Portland Sea Dogs News Release

Portland Sea Dogs (64-62) vs. Binghamton Mets (55-71)

RHP Michael Bowden (7-4, 4.48) vs. RHP Salvador Aguilar (7-7, 5.86)

Game #126 - Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - Hadlock Field - Portland, ME - 7:00 PM

AND THE STREAK GOES ON AND ON!: After last night's 6-0 loss to Binghamton, the Sea Dogs have dropped 13 of 14 games from Hadlock Field....Their only win during the last 14 games at Hadlock came in the 1st game of their previous series with New Britain...Today Portland looks to salvage the final game of their three game series with the Mets...Tomorrow the Dogs start a four game set in New Hampshire.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Kevin Mulvey (11-10) stymied the Sea Dogs yesterday and earned his 11th win of the season as the Mets downed the Sea Dogs 6-0. Mulvey was sharp as he fired seven shutout innings, surrendering only three hits in the contest. John Barnes (1-2) suffered the loss, although he only gave up two runs (one earned) in five innings of work. The knuckleballer had some control issues in the contest walking seven Met batters. Portland only managed four hits in the game, two coming off the bat of Bryan Pritz. Jamar Hill led Binghamton's offense as he went 3-5 with a solo home run and two RBI. Rafael Arroyo also chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBI. Andrew Dobies was the only Portland pitcher who did not allow a run. Dobies went two scoreless innings, striking out two batters.

UNSAFE AT HOME: The Sea Dogs have dropped 13 of their last 14 games at Hadlock Field and own a 2-12 record in their last 14 home games - Portland beat Harrisburg on August 11 at Fenway Park and took the series opener from the Rock Cats on August 17. The 'Dogs home record of 30-33 is the fourth worse in the Eastern League.

WALKING HIS WAY TO GOOD NUMBERS?: John Barnes has been good with the Sea Dogs, however it is astounding to see his high walk total...In three appearances (two starts) with Portland, which spans over 12 innings, the knuckleballer has walked 13 batters yet has a strikingly low ERA of 1.50...In his first start with Portland, Barnes walked 5 batters...On August 18th he walked 1 batter in 1 inning of relief...Yesterday, the righty walked a season high 7 batters.

HOTTOVY COLD AT HADLOCK: Tommy Hottovy, Portland's opening day starter, is struggling at Hadlock Field...At home in 2007, Hottovy is 0-5 with a 6.38 ERA...In 9 games started at Hadlock, Hottovy has given up 60 hits and 35 runs (34 earned) in 48 innings.
