Suns Get Crushed 8-1

Salisbury, MD: The Hagerstown Suns were defeated 8-1 by the Delmarva Shorebirds on Tuesday night from Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Tim Bascom fired six shutout innings en route to the victory.

The Suns were held to just five hits against the 'Birds' pitching staff. Tim Bascom picked up the win firing six innings, scattering three hits while striking out seven.

The 'Birds scored single runs in the third, fifth and sixth and busted the game wide open with a five-run eighth inning, highlighted by a Billy Rowell grand slam. Miguel Abreu followed Rowell with a solo shot as they went back-to-back. Abreu finished the game with three hits including his 13th dinger and 26th double.

The Suns scored their lone run in the ninth on an infield single off the bat Robby Jacobsen to plate Trevor Lawhorn. Reliever Brent Allar still managed to strike out four in the inning, which was made possible after striking out Lindon Bond, whom had reached first base on a wild pitch.

The Suns have now lost four of five and have scored just eight runs in their last four games on 20 hits.
