Lexington Legends News Release

APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, Ky.) - The Lexington Legends welcome new University of Kentucky basketball coach Billy Gillispie to Applebee's Park on Monday, August 27. Gillispie will be on hand to throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the start of the Legends game with the West Virginia Power.

"Billy is an exciting addition to Lexington's sports family," said Legends General Manager Kevin Kulp. "Gillispie is creating a lot of buzz around Kentucky Basketball and we are very happy to have him come out and catch a Legends game."

Gillespie is among several coaching greats to throw out a first pitch at a Legends game. Gillispie's predecessor, Tubby Smith was on hand to deliver a ceremonial pitch during Lexington's inaugural season in 2001.

Gillispie was hired to replace Smith on April 6th after a terrific run at Texas A&M. He is known as a dynamic recruiter, a reputation reinforced with the addition of McDonalds All-American Patrick Patterson within a month of accepting the UK post.

Tickets are still available for the remaining five games on the Legends home schedule. Fans are encouraged to contact the box office at 422-RUNS (7867) for more information. Tickets are also available for purchase online at www.lexingtonlegends.com.
