Snyder Wins 14th Game for Augusta

Augusta, GA - The GreenJackets (50-20, 28-23) powered their way past the Delmarva Shorebirds (34-33, 25-25) on Monday night with an 8-5 win. Starter Ben Snyder won his 14th game of the season and Mike McBryde powered the offense with two home runs and four RBIs.

McBryde led off the sixth and seventh innings with solo home runs, his fifth and sixth home runs of the season. Augusta took an 8-4 lead into the ninth inning before the Shorebirds plated their final run off reliever David Newton to cut the lead to 8-5.

Snyder (14-4) worked five innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits. The lefty walked three and walked four to become the third pitcher in the league to 14 wins.

Augusta trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning but plated four runs on four hits to take a 4-1 lead. McBryde connected for a two-run single for a 2-1 lead and then three batters later with the bases loaded Marcus Sanders came threw with a two-run single to left field for a 4-2 lead.

The GreenJackets added single runs in the third and fourth innings for a 6-1 lead. Joey Dyche collected the RBI in the third inning when he reached on a fielder's choice as Brett Pill scored from third. In the fourth inning Sanders came through with an RBI sac-fly to center field.

Delmarva scored the first run of the game on a two-out solo home run from Brandon Tripp in the top of the second inning.

The Shorebirds got two mores runs in the fifth inning with the help of a wild pitch and a fielding error from Henry Gutierrez to trim the lead to 6-3. Delmarva added another run in the sixth inning to pull to within one on the RBI base hit from Pedro Florimon off reliever Wayne Foltin.

Foltin worked 1.1 innings in relief and allowed one run on two hits while walking two.

Juan Trinidad pitched 1.2 scoreless innings and did not allow a hit or walk while striking out three.

The GreenJackets continue their home stand Tuesday night and Augusta will send right-hander Adam Cowart (12-6, 2.52) to the hill. The Shorebirds will counter with righty Zach Clark (2-1, 2.25). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Game Notes:

McBryde connected for two home runs in a game for the first time in his career and it was the second time in his career that he collected four RBIs in a game.

Augusta has had four players this season have two homer games...Rohlinger did it twice while Felmy and Gutierrez each did it once.

Augusta has collected 10+ hits in four straight games...the longest stretch of the season.

Marcus Sanders walked three times and drove in three runs.

Brett Pill connected for his league leading 41st double of the season.
