Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - In a slugfest it is often the team who's bullpen gives them a chance that will come out on top. Three JetHawks relievers combined to hold the Modesto Nuts to no runs and just one base runner over the final five innings, giving Brad Correll and Mark Wagner a chance to lead a comeback as the JetHawks pulled one out 11-7. Correll finished the game with five hits, matching a JetHawks season high, and Wagner drove in four runs.

Modesto scored seven runs in the first four innings, driving JetHawks starter Adam Cox out of the game and giving the Nuts a 7-6 lead. Jason Blackey emerged from the JetHawks bullpen to restore order. Blackey retired all nine batters he saw in three innings to earn his second win of the season. T.J. Large and Chad Rhoades each pitched a scoreless frame.

Correll starred offensively, collecting the second five-hit game of the JetHawks season and of Correll's career. Correll drove in four runs, using a home run, a triple, and three singles. Tony Granadillo had four hits while Mark Wagner had four RBI on three hits and a sacrifice fly. Zach Daeges also added two RBI, including the game-winner in the seventh inning.

The JetHawks open a six-game road trip Friday night against the High Desert Mavericks. The JetHawks starter will be Mike Rozier (4-8, 7.51) while the Mavericks go with Marwin Vega (4-7, 5.20). The game starts at 7:05 PM and will be broadcast on radio at Magic 1340 AM, as well as on internet at www.JetHawks.com. The Pre-Game Show starts at 7:00.
