Mike Kinkade Signed By New York Yankees

Bridgewater, NJ- The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that infielder Mike Kinkade has been signed by the New York Yankees organization.

Kinkade had a .350 batting average with four runs scored, seven hits, a double, and two RBI in six games with the Somerset Patriots. Kinkade has 222 games of Major League experience with the New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has a Major League career .256 batting average with 110 hits, 20 doubles, 13 home runs, and 48 RBI.

Kinkade also has seven seasons of Triple-A experience with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Mets, Orioles, Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, and Florida Marlins organizations. Kinkade has a minor league career .328 batting average with 1,748 hits, 249 doubles, 40 triples, 91 home runs, and 617 RBI in 944 games.

Kinkade will report to the Yankees Double-A affiliate in Trenton, New Jersey. He is the sixth player to be signed by a Major League organization from the Patriots this season.

The Patriots have signed and activated left-handed pitcher Scott Wiggins. Wiggins has three games of Major League experience with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he struck out three and allowed a run in 2.2 innings pitched.

Wiggins started in the New York Yankees organization and reached the Double-A level with the Norwich Navigators.

In 1999 pitching for Single-A Greensboro, Wiggins was 7-1 with a 3.95 ERA and 110 strikeouts in 93.1 inning pitched in 17 games.

Wiggins has a 29-23 record with a 3.43 ERA and 507 strikeouts in 244 games in eight seasons in the minor leagues.
