Crudale Returns To Ducks

(Central Islip, N.Y., August 7, 2007) - Long Island Ducks team officials today announced the signing of righthanded pitcher Mike Crudale. The 30-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Ducks, appearing in an Atlantic League-high and team record 64 games in 2005, and going 5-4 last season in 47 relief outings for Long Island.

"Mike has been a major factor in our team's success over the past two years," says Ducks general manager Michael Pfaff. "We're excited to have him back in a Ducks uniform as we start the push to make the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season."

Crudale becomes the 14th players on the Ducks current roster with Major League experience. The California native pitched in the big leagues with St. Louis and Milwaukee, compiling a 3-1 record and 2.09 ERA in 71 games at baseball's highest level. He came to the Ducks in 2005, and has pitched in 111 games with the Flock, going 10-8 with a 4.93 ERA in 113.2 innings pitched. His best professional season came in 2002, when he began the year with St. Louis (NL) and went 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 49 games. He continued his stellar season at the Triple-A level, putting up a 1.84 ERA in with seven saves in 13 games with Memphis (AAA, Cardinals) of the Pacific Coast League. The Santa Clara graduate was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 24th round of the 1999 draft.
