RoughRiders power past Missions

The RoughRiders took sole possession of first place in the Texas League South with a 7- win over San Antonio Sunday evening. The RoughRiders got home runs from Adam Fox, John Mayberry and Chris Davis and the bullpen held the Missions scoreless over the final seven innings.

Mayberry led off the second inning with his 11th home run of the season to give the 'Riders a 1-0 advantage. San Antonio took an early 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the frame with a pair of runs of off Frisco starter Vicente Padilla. Padilla made his fourth rehab appearence with the 'Riders and allowed two runs on two hits in his two innings of work.

San Antonio remained in control until the fifth inning when the Frisco offense erupted for three runs to take a 4-2 lead. Brandon Boggs tied the game with an RBI ground out that scored Chris Davis and Adam Fox gave Frisco the lead with a two run home run off of San Antonio starter Wade LeBlanc (3-3).

The Frisco bullpen made the lead stand as four relievers combined to shut out the Missions over the final seven frames. Jorge Vasquez (2-1) earned the victory with two scoreless innings while Ken Chenard, Bill White and Brandon Puffer pitched the final five frames. Puffer picked up his first save of the season as he worked three scoreless innings allowing just one hit.

The 'Riders would add two more runs in the seventh when Fox doubled home a pair of runs and Chris Davis hit a solo home run in the ninth that stretched the Frisco lead to 7-2.

The 'Riders' offense was led by Fox finished the game going 3-for-5 with four RBI and Davis who was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Davis is now hitting .368 with three home runs and eight RBI in his first six games with the RoughRiders.

The 'Riders and Missions will conclude their four game set Monday night at 6 p.m. Armando Galarraga (9-5) will take the mound for the RoughRiders in the finale.
