Compuware Sports Arena to Host WDFN's Animal Rights Spoof for Charity

July 31, 2007 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Plymouth Whalers News Release

PLYMOUTH, MI - Sean Baligian will broadcast his show live from Compuware Sports Arena parking lot in Plymouth during this barbecue-style outing. The 1130-AM radio host began the underground movement of MEATA - Men Eating All the Tasty Animals - in response to all the media coverage offered to PETA for or its every action due to its fashionable support by certain high-profile celebrities.

Listeners are encouraged to bring their own meat to grill and eat, eat, eat during Baligian's popular radio show "It Is What It Is". Mother's Pizza of Plymouth, Hillshire Farms Sausage, Ball Park Franks, Genetti's of Northville, bd's mongolian barbeque, Arby's, Pizza Papalis, Rio Wraps and Hickory BBQ will all be on hand with free samples. This event is also a food drive for charity; attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods which will be donated to the Oakland Country Food Bank.

After searching for a home during MEATA's early years, the annual event came to the Compuware Sports Arena last summer. The spacious arena is an ideal location for this popular and fun event.

"We are so happy to be at a place like Compuware Sports Arena," said Baligian. "There's enough room there to fit the many meat lovers and allow us to celebrate the greatness of Meat, plus it's the home of the OHL Champ Whalers and a fantastic sports venue."

Aside from all that meat-eating, there are plenty of activities planned for the entire family, including:

- Listeners can submerge Baligian in a dunk tank for Tiger tickets and other prizes.

- Racing fans can try the NASCAR Nextel Racing Experience, a racing simulator.

- Whaler fans can meet current players AJ Jenks and Brett Bellemore and mascot Shooter while playing the "Whale of Fortune".

Last year's event attracted nearly 1000 attendees. The Compuware Sports Arena is located at 14900 Beck Road in Plymouth Township, between 5 Mile and M-14.
