Bostik, Zephyrs Shut Out Portland

METAIRIE, La. - Adam Bostick struck out 10 over six strong innings and combined with two relievers on a three-hit shutout as the New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the Portland Beavers 3-0 at Zephyr Field Monday night.

Bostick (5-5) carried a no-hitter into the fourth inning and struck out seven of the first nine batters faced to earn his fifth win of the season.

Fernando Tatis and Andy Tracy each hit solo home runs, and Anderson Hernandez was 2-for-4 for New Orleans (59-50).

Portland starter Jack Cassel (7-11) took the loss despite a strong outing in which he surrendered just three runs over seven innings, striking out seven.

Tatis gave the Zephyrs an early 1-0 lead after clubbing his 13th home run of the season

Tatis would continue his hot hitting in the bottom of the third inning, hitting a two-out RBI double to give New Orleans a 2-0 advantage. Tatis is 9-for-13 with two home runs and five RBIs in the series against the Beavers (44-66).

Tracy gave the Zephyrs a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with a leadoff home run, his 21st homer of the year.

Eddie Camacho tossed two innings of scoreless relief and Ivan Maldonado picked up his eighth save of the season for the Zephyrs, who have won nine of their last 10 games.

The Beavers wrap up their series with New Orleans, Tuesday at 10 a.m. (Pacific) at Zephyr Field.

NOTES: Cassel has surrendered just 11 home runs in 132.2 innings pitched this season ... Bostick's 10 strikeouts set a new season high ... the Beavers have been shut out four times this season.
