 Frederick Keys

Rally Ends Draught Against Lynchburg

July 30, 2007 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Frederick Keys News Release

Having lost five in a row and 14 of 17 in 2007 to the Lynchburg Hillcats, it appeared a fielding error was going to cost Frederick again as they trailed 4-3 heading into the ninth inning. Then, down to their final strike, RF Brent Krause hit his second home run for Frederick to lift the Keys even at 4-4. In the tenth inning, with two on and two out, 3B Ryan Finan stroked his second two-out RBI basehit of the game, pushing the Keys ahead for good in a 6-4 win in Lynchburg.

The game was not without controversy. Frederick LF Chris Amador was thrown out of the game in the eighth inning arguing an out call on a line drive he thought was trapped. In the tenth inning Hillcats 3B Tripper Johnson was tossed after a safe call was made on a play at third base. Clendenin, who was called safe, would score the winning run.

The Keys managed nine hits in the game but incredibly Finan's two-out tenth inning single was the first single of the night. The first seven Keys hits were extra base hits with six doubles and a home run.

Keys starter Chorye Spoone worked well and handed the game to Carlos Perez who worked three innings for his seventh win of the season.

The series continues Tuesday, July 31st at 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on frederickkeys.com.

The Keys return home Thursday, August 2nd to take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks. It will be Fairy Tale Night presented by Medieval Times with a demonstration planned.
