PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers are featuring a series of special events during their upcoming homestand that begins Wednesday against the Nashville Sounds at PGE Park. Included in the homestand are three popular events - Mullet Night, "Score One for Safety and Health," and "Strike Out Breast Cancer Day."

The Beavers pay tribute to those sporting the "business-in-the-front, party-in-the-back" hairstyle with Mullet Night on Aug. 2, a Miller Lite Thursday at PGE Park. The annual event will feature traditional PGE Park Mullet Night activities, including a redneck dress-up contest, the unofficial hub-cap tossing world championship and a toilet-seat horseshoe competition.

The upcoming homestand also includes PGE's annual "Score One for Safety and Health" event presented by PGE on Saturday. PGE employees, along with firefighters, police officers and public safety teams, will provide several interactive stations around PGE Park teaching children safety in a variety of situations. The first 3,000 kids ages 14 and under will receive a Beavers lunch box courtesy of PGE. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

The annual "Strike Out Breast Cancer" event, presented by Health Net, returns to PGE Park on Sunday. The Beavers will wear special pink jerseys to help raise breast cancer awareness. A silent auction for each one-of-a-kind jerseys will be held before and during the game. The winning bidder will be presented the player's autographed jersey after the game. All proceeds will go to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The first 2,000 fans will receive pink visors courtesy of Health Net.

Tickets for the homestand against the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, and Memphis Redbirds, the St. Louis Cardinals' Triple-A club, are available at the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at (503) 224-4400. Wednesday, Aug. 1

Beavers vs. Nashville - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers will honor Oregon high school student-athletes who were selected to all-state teams last school year as they begin a four-game series against Nashville.

Thursday, Aug. 2

Mullet Night / Miller Lite Thursday - Beavers vs. Nashville - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers pay tribute to the classic hairdo with Mullet Night on a Miller Lite Thursday presented by Jammin' 95.5 with traditional PGE Park Mullet Night activities including a redneck dress-up race, championship hub-cap toss and a toilet-seat horseshoe competition.

Friday, Aug. 3

Comcast Family Feast Friday - Beavers vs. Nashville - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers continue their series against the Nashville Sounds on a Comcast Family Feast Friday presented by Scott Brand. The first 1,000 fans will receive rally towels. A variety of discounted concession items will be available including $1 hot dogs, Dasani water and Blue Bunny ice cream desserts.

Saturday, Aug. 4

PGE Score One for Safety and Health - Beavers vs. Nashville - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers celebrate kids safety with Score One for Safety and Health presented by PGE on a Fred Meyer Saturday presented by 98/7 KUPL and KINK fm 102. Kids can earn prizes as they visit the several stations around PGE Park learning safety and health tips from members of PGE, firefighters, police officers and public safety teams. The first 3,000 kids 14 and under receive a Beavers lunch box courtesy of PGE. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 5

Strike Out Breast Cancer Day - Beavers vs. Memphis - 2:05 p.m. The Beavers help raise awareness for breast cancer with Strike Out Breast Cancer Day presented by Health Net as they start a four-game series against Memphis. The Beavers will wear pink commemorative jerseys that will be awarded to lucky fans through a silent auction taking place before and during the game. Those with the winning bids will receive their player-autographed jerseys after the game. All proceeds go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The first 2,000 fans will receive a pink visor courtesy of Health Net on an American Family Insurance Sunday presented by Soft Rock K103. Prior to the first pitch, kids have the opportunity to get player autographs on the Fred Meyer Family Deck, and after the game, kids are invited to run the bases at PGE Park, presented by Family Fun Center & Bullwinkle's Restaurant.

Monday, Aug. 6

Joe's Baseball Bingo - Beavers vs. Memphis - 7:05 p.m. Portland continues its series against the Redbirds at PGE Park on a Joe's Baseball Bingo Monday presented by Sports Radio 1080 The Fan. Bingo cards will be distributed to the first 1,000 fans. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 7

Beavers vs. Memphis - 7:05 p.m. The Beavers host the Memphis Redbirds for the third game of the four-game series. Portland Trail Blazers president Larry Miller will toss the ceremonial first pitch and Bill Schonely, the former play-by-play announcer for the Trail Blazers and Beavers, will sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch.

Wednesday, Aug. 8

Businessperson's Special - Beavers vs. Memphis - 12:05 p.m. The Beavers conclude an eight-game homestand and their series against Memphis with the final Businessperson's Special of the season presented by News Radio 1190 KEX. Enjoy a summer afternoon with Beavers baseball at PGE Park with food and drink specials starting at $5. Gates open at 11 a.m.
