Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK - Express left-hander Troy Patton has been named to the Minor League News Fab50 list for 2007, the website announced.

Patton, 21, is 2-1 with 13 strikeouts in 24 innings for Round Rock since his call-up from Double-A Corpus Christi in early July. The Magnolia, Texas native posted a 6-6 record and trimmed a 2.99 earned-run average with the Hooks and struck out 68 against 33 walks in 102 1/3 innings.

Patton attended Tomball High School and was selected by Houston in the ninth round of the 2004 draft. In 2005, he struck out 132 batters over 119 2/3 innings between Low-A Lexington and High-A Salem marking the fifth best total in Houston's minor league system. He was named to the South Atlantic League All-Star team and posted a 2.18 ERA.

He ranked second in the Astros' organization with 139 strikeouts in 2006 and worked a 2.93 ERA with Salem before making his first Double-A start on July 25, holding San Antonio to one earned run over 5 2/3 innings.

Patton entered the 2007 ranked by Baseball America as Houston's second-best prospect behind outfielder Hunter Pence, who is batting .330 with 12 homeruns, 42 runs and 45 RBI for the Astros.
