TODAY'S OPPONENT:
The Tacoma Rainers are the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Last season, the Rainers finished second in the Pacific North with a record of 74-70.
VS. TACOMA:
The Rainiers won three of four games last season at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. The Rainers won the first three games with the Hawks taking the finale. The all-time series is tied 27-27.
TODAY'S GAME:
This is game 107 of the season, the third of 4 meetings between Oklahoma and Tacoma this season.
LAST GAME:
The RedHawks overcame an early 4-0 deficit to defeat the Rainiers in the second game of their series at The Brick. The Rainiers scored four runs on five hits and two walks in the first inning off starter Edinson Volquez. The RedHawks scored one in the first and three runs on three hits and three walks in the second to tie the game at four. The RedHawks took the lead with two in the third, making the score 6-4. The Hawks added single runs in each of the fourth, fifth and six innings to make the final score 9-4. Jason Botts led the way for the Hawks at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs as eight of the nine starters in the RedHawks lineup had at least one hit. Volquez settled down after the first inning to get the win, allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings.
PITCHING MATCHUP: Chris Baker
returns from Double-A Frisco to make his fifth RedHawk start of the season. He didn't figure into the decision Wednesday for the RoughRiders against Midland, allowing just one run on one hit in six innings. Last season for Round Rock, Baker made one relief appearance against the Rainiers, allowing five runs (only one earned) on three hits in 1.2 innings. Ryan Feirerabend gets the ball for the Rainiers. Feirerabend hasn't faced the RedHawks in his career.
HULETT ENJOYS JULY: Tug Hulett's
hitting .347 through 24 games in July after going 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI yesterday. This after hitting just .190 in 28 games during June. Hulett has at least one hit in 25 of his last 28 games, and has seen his average go from .238 to .274 during that time.
VICTOR AT THE PLATE: Victor Diaz
is hitting .327 (16-49) with three homers and 17 RBIs over the last 12 games. He has at least one RBI in eight of the last 12 games.
FOX HAVING SUCCESS: Adam Fox
is hitting .333 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 11 games since being promoted to Oklahoma. Fox has at least one hit and one RBI in eight of the 11 games he's played.
STARTERS HAVE TROUBLE GETTING TO SIXTH:
After making it through the sixth inning in 11 of 12 starts July 12-24, the starters haven't made it into the sixth in five straight games coming into today.
IT'S A BLOW OUT:
The RedHawks are 9-3 in their last 12 games. During that span, they haven't played many close games. The Hawks have been outscored 26-7 by their oppenents in their last three losses. The RedHawks have outscored their oppnents 64-16 in their last nine wins, with at least 10 hits in each win.
LEAGUE LEADERS: Mike Wood
leads the PCL with a 3.21 ERA. Freddy Guzman leads the league with 38 stolen bases. Botts leads the PCL with a .436 on-base percentage, he's second with 35 doubles, tied for fourth with 52 extra-base hits and seventh with a .321 batting average.

DOT-DOT-DOT:
The RedHawks are 3-8 on Monday this season, and 13-12 in July...they're 11-13 in day games...dating back to July 16, the Hawks are 9-4 in their last 13 games. They have committed a total of one error in the nine wins, but they have at least one error in the four losses
