Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Two runs in the top of the ninth sparked a Silver Hawks' comeback and led them to a 3-2 victory over the Snappers on Sunday. Danny Vais gave up two runs off three hits in the top of the ninth inning to pick up his third loss of the season.

Beloit scored first in the bottom of the first inning off an RBI single from Wilson Ramos. Ramos drove home Garrett Olson, who earlier doubled, from second to give the Snappers a 1-0 lead after one. Wilson's RBI was his 32nd of the season.

South Bend tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from Joey Side. Side's RBI gave the Silver Hawks their first run of the game and tied the game up after three and a half innings.

The Snappers pushed ahead in the bottom of the seventh inning with another run. Matt Betsill scored from second off of an error from Silver Hawks' third baseman, Ricardo Sosa. Sosa's error came on a ball hit from Snappers' center fielder, Danny Santiesteban. Betsill's run gave Beloit a 2-1 lead after seven innings.

After a scoreless eighth inning, the two teams headed to the ninth with the score still 2-1 in the Snappers' favor. Danny Vais then gave up two runs to the Silver Hawks on three hits to get behind South Bend, 3-2.

The Snappers were unable to muster anything in the bottom of the ninth inning and went on to drop the series finale, 3-2.

Beloit's second half record is now 20-14.
