Six-Run Seventh Powers Fisher Cats

Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored six runs in the seventh inning en route to a 10-2 win over the New Britain Rock Cats Sunday afternoon at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. Five different Fisher Cats drove in runs in that decisive frame to make a winner out of Jo Matumoto.

Erik Kratz (1-3, 3B, 2 RBI, 2 runs) sparked the scoring for New Hampshire in the bottom of the fifth inning with the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game. After Rob Cosby and Dustin Majewski walked, Kratz delivered a one-out triple to left field that scored both runners, giving New Hampshire (55-52) a 2-1 lead. It was the first triple of Kratz's career.

Manny Mayorson (2-4, RBI, R) followed with a two-out RBI single, staking the Fisher Cats to a 3-1 lead.

In the seventh, the Fisher Cats would break the game open against New Britain relievers Frank Mata and Tristin Crawford. Aaron Mathews (1-for-5, RBI), Sergio Santos (2-for-5, RBI, R), and Chip Cannon (1-for-3, RBI, R) all delivered run-scoring singles off Mata, building a 6-1 lead.

Cosby (1-for-4, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) greeted Crawford with a two-run double to center, and Dustin Majewski (2-for-5, RBI, R) added an RBI single to give New Hampshire a 9-1 lead.

David Smith went 3-for-4 with three singles and drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning against Jose Mijares.

Matumoto (2-2) went five innings, allowing one run on three hits. He walked five and struck out four to record his first win as a starting pitcher.

Sean Stidfole, Jean Machi, and Matt Roney allowed only one run in four innings of relief.

New Britain (49-54) actually opened the scoring in the top of the second inning thanks to an RBI double to leftfield by Matt Allegra (1-3, 2B, RBI), scoring Luke Hughes from first base.

The Fishers have won three of the first five games in the series, moving to within one game of Portland for the second playoff spot in the Eastern League's Northern Division.

New Hampshire and New Britain wrap up the first six-game series in Merchantsauto.com Stadium history Monday afternoon at 12:05pm. Fisher Cats' right-hander Kyle Yates (6-6, 4.53) takes the mound against Rock Cats' right-hander Anthony Swarzak (3-3, 3.12).
