MONTGOMERY, AL - The BayBears established a season high with 17 hits Thursday in their 12-5 win over Montgomery. The BayBears have now won three of their last four games, sealing a series win against Montgomery. With the win, the BayBears remain in a third place tie with Birmingham, 10 games behind first place Jacksonville.

The BayBears sent Montgomery starter Derek Feldkamp out of the game after just two innings, after a Javier Brito three-run home run in the first, a Brito two-run double in the second, and an RBI double by Carlos Gonzalez. Ronnie Merrill's two-run home run in the fifth made it 8-0. The BayBears added four more runs in the seventh, on a three run home run by Justin Upton, and an RBI single by Phil Avlas.

Max Scherzer (2-3) picked up his second win with Mobile, tossing 5.1 innings, allowing two runs, both earned on three hits. It was Scherzer's first win against Montgomery in three starts against the Biscuits. Montgomery used five pitchers in the game, including Major Leaguer Tim Corcoran, who was on a rehabilitation assignment with the Devil Rays Double-A affiliate.

Gonzalez was 4-for-5 with an RBI, and Brito and Rusty Ryal had three hits each. Wilkin Castillo was 2-for-4 atop the lineup for Mobile filling in for a resting Emilio Bonifacio.

The BayBears series against Montgomery concludes Friday at 7:05 PM, with RHP Brooks Brown (1-1) pitching for Mobile against Montgomery LHP Jon Barratt (2-7).
