Smokies Add Cortes, Reynolds To Roster

Sevierville, Tennessee -- The Tennessee Smokies Professional Baseball Club, the Class AA Southern League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have added OF Jorge Cortes back to the active roster, and welcome newcomer INF Kyle Reynolds from Class A Daytona.

Cortes rejoins the Smokies after a brief stint at Class AAA Iowa. He was called up to the Iowa Cubs on July 17, 2007, and was used sparingly in a pinch hitter's role during that time. Cortes appeared in eight games for Iowa, notching two hits in six AB's, including a double, while scoring three runs.

Reynolds is a 23-year-old is a native of Houston, TX. Kyle graduated from the University of Baylor in 2005, and was drafted by the Cubs in the sixth round of the 2005 draft. Reynolds is in his third season of professional baseball. He will be joining the Smokies from the Daytona Cubs (A).

With these roster moves, the Tennessee Smokies active roster is at the maximum of 24 players.

The Smokies continue a five game series at home against the Carolina Mudcats on Thursday night with a double-header beginning at 5:15 pm.
