Incessant Rain 2, Baseball 0

July 25, 2007 - Texas League (TL1)
Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Rain, seemingly unending for the Hooks over the past two months, has once again forced a postponement of play at Wolff Municipal Stadium in San Antonio. The games lost to rain Tuesday and Wednesday will tentatively be made up when the Hooks return to San Antonio for a series August 25th through August 27th.

Rain has fallen for most of day in San Antonio, and a steady rain was coming down at the stadium when tonight's action was called shortly before 4:30 p.m. Standing water occupied a majority of the track that rings the field, and could be seen in noticeable puddles in the outfield grass.

The two clubs were slated to play a doubleheader starting at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday to make up for Tuesday's rainout, but, due to the continuing rain and already soggy field conditions, the twin bill was scrubbed around 2:30 p.m. in favor of a single game at the original start time of 7:05 p.m. With no end to the rain and worsening field conditions, all action was postponed roughly two hours later.

Wednesday's washout is the 10th postponement of a Hooks game this season, the last seven of which have all been caused by rain. Eight of the 10 postponements have occurred on the road.

The Hooks will now make their way to Frisco to open a four-game series against the RoughRiders, weather permitting, on Thursday. Miguel Asencio, who was to have pitched in San Antonio Tuesday night, will start Thursday's game for the Hooks. The RoughRiders are expected to go with Armando Galarraga.
