Arkansas Travelers News Release

Dickey-Stephens Park, North Little Rock, AR - The Los Angeles Angels have announced three player moves that affect the Arkansas Travelers. Longtime Travs reliever RHP Aaron Pullin has been promoted to triple-A Salt Lake for the first time. Replacing him in the Travs' bullpen is RHP Jeff Kennard whom the Angels acquired in a recent trade with the New York Yankees. Also rejoining the Travs is C/1B Ben Johnson who comes back to Arkansas from single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Pullin, 26, led the Travs with 39 appearances and 10 holds while compiling a 4-4 record and 3.77 ERA. He had appeared in 110 games for the Travs over the previous three seasons and had an 11-10 record plus seven saves. Over his last 20 outings with the Travs, Pullin had a 1.28 ERA in 21 innings and allowed just a .197 batting average.

Kennard, 25, was acquired by the Angels on July 31 from the New York Yankees in exchange for C Jose Molina. Kennard posted a 1-4 record and a 2.73 ERA in 31 games for the Yankees' double-A Trenton affiliate. Originally selected by New York in the 40th round of the 2000 draft, the Centerville, Ohio native walked 17 batters against 47 strikeouts.

Johnson, 25, comes back to the Travs after spending his last 10 games at Rancho Cucamonga batting 10-for-28 with three home runs and 12 RBI. Johnson made his double-A debut with the Travs on July 2 in Midland going 2-for-4 with a home run. He was sent back to single-A right after that game and now rejoins the Travs to work as the starting catcher. A 23rd round pick of the Angels in the 2004 draft out of the University of Washington, Johnson was batting .277 with 14 home runs and 28 RBI in 71 games in the California League.
