Hooks Update
July 25, 2007 - Texas League (TL1)
Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
THE TOY CANNON COMES TO CORPUS - Jimmy Wynn, one of only seven Astros to have his number retired, will sign autographs in Hook, Line & Sinker from 5:30-6:45 on August 1. Gates open at 5:30 and Hooks-Missions first pitch is 7:05.
PENCE NIGHT - Corpus Christi salutes a fan favorite Monday, August 6, as the Hooks take on Midland at 7:05. It's Hunter Pence Appreciation Night at the ballpark and the first 4,000 fans receive a Hunter Pence print, courtesy of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. Limited edition Pence t-shirts are available as part of Monday's Hooks Heroes Package. Fans get a shirt, hot dog and soda for only $5. The night also features special video tributes to Hunter throughout the game, as well as giveaways of autographed memorabilia and Astros tickets.
OUT OF THE PARK - The Lyondell Home Run Challenge kicks off Wednesday, August 1, in an effort to support and raise awareness of the Miracle League of Corpus Christi. For every Hooks' homer hit at Whataburger Field during the month of August, the Lyondell Chemical Company will donate $200 to the Miracle League, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of special needs people.
The Hooks Field of Dreams Program, funded in part with proceeds from the annual South Texas Winter Baseball Banquet and Astros Winter Caravan Luncheon, will also aid in the construction of the Miracle League facility to be located on Airport Road between Old Brownsville Rd. and Greenwood Drive.
THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING - The days of summer are numbered and so is your chance to take advantage of the Hooks Season-Ticket Holder Exchange. During the last two seasons, over $30,000 has been credited to season-ticket accounts through the resale of tickets. Call the Hooks ticket office at 361-561-HOOK for more information.
HOOKS AUTOGRAPHS - The Hooks show their appreciation for all fans with a 15-minute autograph session at Hook, Line & Sinker one hour before every game. Check out cchooks.com to find out when your favorite player is signing.
WEBSITE POLL - OK, we're a little biased and injuries don't faze us. 232 of the 491 who voted in last week's poll said Hunter Pence's 20 home runs would come before Barry Bonds hits 755. Twenty-four percent disregarded their hearts and voted that Bonds' record-breaking blast would occur first. This week, we feel the pressure....
