Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - Sacramento jumped on Memphis early and never looked back in the River Cats 8-2 win Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.
J.J. Furmaniak led off the game with a solo home run on his way to finishing the night with four hits. Dee Brown joined in on the long ball fun with a two-run shot in the third inning, and Gregorio Petit belted his first homer of the season with a two-run shot in the fourth. Brown and Petit each finished with a pair of hits on the night. Eight of the nine River Cats in the lineup collected hits with five of them having at least two hits.
Rick Ankiel tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first with his 28th home run of the season. The Redbirds second run came in the sixth inning when Jolbert Cabrera was hit by a Michael Madsen pitch with the bases loaded.
Madsen was solid in his eight innings of work to earn the win. He scattered five hits and allowed two runs to run his record to 3-0. Memphis starter Mike Parisi was beat up for six runs on eight hits, including three home runs, in 3.1 innings in the loss.
The Birds will send Mike Smith to the hill tomorrow night to face Sacramento's Shane Komine. Game time is set for 7:10 p.m.
