Philadelphia KiXX News Release

Philadelphia, PA, July 24, 2007 - The opening round of competition for the American Futsal Squad began with a loss to Argentina, by a score of 5-2. After Argentina scored first, MISL MVP Jamar Beasley tied the game up at one on a feed from Denison Cabral at the 15-minute mark. Argentina, who finished fourth in the last world championships, pulled away from there, going up 3-1 just four minutes into the second half. Milwaukee's Joe Hammes scored the second goal for the U.S., but it wasn't enough. Brett Phillips, also from Milwaukee, took the loss in net. The U.S. will play Ecuador at 3:30pm ET today.

Philadelphia KiXX player/coach Don D'Ambra and defender Pat Morris played but did not record any points. The team will face Costa Rica at 1:30pm ET tomorrow, Wednesday, July 25.

Futsal is an indoor soccer game played with four field players per team plus goalkeepers on a field roughly the size of a basketball court. Unlike MISL soccer, Futsal has no walls, the ball is smaller and heavier then traditional soccer balls and the goals are much smaller. The game was invented in Brazil, played the world over and is sanctioned by FIFA as the only form of international indoor soccer.
