Baysox Explode for Third Straight Win

(Bowie, MD) - The Baysox exploded for 11 runs in their series opener vs. Reading winning their third straight game, 11-3. The 11 runs for the Baysox, was highest run output for Bowie at home this season.

The Baysox had to come from behind though as Reading put up two first inning runs. It wouldn't take long to even the score though as Oscar Salazar connected for his 15th home run, a two-run shot, tying the game at, 2-2. The home run broke a 17-game homerless drought for Salazar, as the Baysox had the game tied heading into the second.

Mike Costanzo put Reading ahead in the top of the third inning with his 16th homer of the season, a solo shot, to put the Phillies ahead, 3-2.

The Baysox would get to Phillies starter Carlos Carrasco in the bottom of the frame, roughing him up for four runs on just two hits. Oscar Salazar would score Bryan Bass from third on a fielder's choice, tying the game at 3-3. Matt Cepicky would then bring home Paco Figueroa on a sacrifice fly in the next at bat giving the Baysox the lead for good, 4-3. Luis Jimenez would hit his second home run in three games in the very next at bat, a two-run blast, to give the Baysox a 6-3 lead.

Bryan Bass would then come in the fourth and connect for a two-run home run, his second in two games, putting the Baysox ahead, 8-3.

Carlos Carrasco would then be spelled from the game in the fifth inning by Allen Davis and the Baysox turned it on again. Eli Whiteside hit an RBI triple scoring Jeff Fiorentino from first, giving the Baysox a 9-3 lead. Rudy Yan followed that up with a double that scored Whiteside and in the very next at bat Blake Davis scored Yan, for an 11-3 lead.

Rosman Garcia picked up his third win of the season, going 7.0 innings, giving up eight hits and three runs, while only issuing one walk. The win improved Garcia's record to (3-4) on the year. Sendy Rleal came on to pitch the final two innings and gave up only two hits, while punching out two. Rleal ended the game in the ninth getting Javon Moran to strike out looking. Eli Whiteside led the Baysox with three hits on the evening.

The Baysox take on Reading in game two of their three game series on Tuesday, first pitch set for 7:05 pm. RHP Zack Segovia will take the hill for Reading against RHP Radhames Liz for the Baysox. Tuesday is also Belly Buster Bargain at the ballpark. Any fan purchasing a Lower Reserve seat ticket, will receive a foot long hot dog, large popcorn and peanuts.
