Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts played catch-up all throughout Monday's contest against the Mississippi Braves. Chattanooga's resiliency paid off, as they scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to come away with an exciting 6-5 win at AT&T Field.

Mississippi wasted little time on entering the scoreboard, as two-run shot by Matt Esquivel gave the Braves an early 2-0 lead. The Lookouts shrunk the Mississippi lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second. A Luis Bolivar infield single set-up a run-resulting double off of the bat of Caonabo Cosme.

The Braves tacked-on another run to their lead in the fourth on an RBI double by Mark Jurich. The Lookouts, however, countered in the fifth, when a Drew Anderson solo shot closed the gap to 3-2. The game of cat and mouse continued in the top portion of the sixth, as the Braves augmented their lead to 4-2 on a Matt Esquival RBI single.

The Lookouts' pesky approach finally paid off in the seventh. Four singles by Enrique Cruz, Luis Bolivar, Caonabo Cosme, and Marland Williams resulted in two runs and the score being knotted-up at four. Mississippi would reclaim the lead in eighth on a Mark Jurich sac fly, which scored Matt Young.

Once again, the Lookouts fought back, but this time, their efforts would have lasting results. An Adam Rosales solo shot to begin the inning tied the score. With two outs, Enrique Cruz doubled to left and scored on a subsequent Craig Tatum single to left. Tatum's RBI single gave the Lookouts a 6-5 lead, which would be the final score after Carlos Guevara earned save number 12 by shutting out the Braves in the ninth.

The Lookouts and the Braves will play the second game of their five-game series, tomorrow at 7:15 P.M. The promotion of the night will be 25¢ Tuesday, where one food item in the park will be just for the entire night!

Tickets for this upcoming series or any other Lookouts' home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
