Right-handed pitcher Charlie Zink placed on the disabled list (left leg), retroactive to July 20.
Right-handed pitcher Chad Povich received from Single-A Lowell.
Povich was drafted by the Red Sox in the 42nd round of the June 2007 draft. He appeared in three games for the GCL Red Sox notching one save and a 0.00 ERA before joining the Lowell Spinners in the New York Penn League. Povich has made two appearances with the Spinners posting a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. He will wear uniform # 6.
Zink currently leads the team with nine wins and ranks fifth in the Eastern League with a 2.94 ERA.
