BayBears Drop Third Straight

July 17, 2007 - Southern League (SL1)
Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, AL - West Tenn scored seven times in the seventh inning Tuesday, beating the BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium 10-6. The BayBears have now lost three straight games, and drop to eight games behind first place Montgomery in the South Division standings.

Former BayBear pitcher Travis Chick (4-2) was the winning pitcher for West Tenn, allowing just two earned runs in six innings. Chick was pitching at Hank Aaron Stadium for a third time as visitor, after pitching for the BayBears in 2005. Mobile reliever Mark Rosen (3-4) took the loss, allowing seven runs, three of which were earned.

The BayBears scored once in the fifth on a Cesar Nicolas solo home run, his third against West Tenn in 2007. The BayBears added runs in the sixth and seventh, on an RBI double by Carlos Gonzalez, and an RBI groundout by Justin Upton. Three BayBears runs in the ninth proved to be two little and too late, with an Emilio Bonifacio bases loaded double to get the BayBears within four.

Each starter for West Tenn had at least one hit, and Mike Wilson went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI's. Chris Kinsey had a strong start for the BayBears, allowing one earned run in six innings of work.

Wednesday the BayBears and Diamond Jaxx continue their series, with RHP Matt Green (9-4) pitching against West Tenn RHP Doug Fister (2-7).
