Ledbetter Records a Double; North Falls to South in Frontier League All-Star Game

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Curtis Ledbetter and Justin Holmes both appeared in the All-Star Game last night at Florence's Champion Window Field. The contest was played in front of a stadium record crowd of 4,483 fans.
Curtis Ledbetter provided some of the offense for the North in an 11-3 defeat. Ledbetter sparked a mini ninth inning rally with a two-out double to center off of Gateway closer Eric Ridener. He advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Kalamazoo's Joe Ramos. Ledbetter entered the game as a replacement behind the plate in the sixth inning and also recorded a strikeout in the game.
Justin Holmes also saw action in the game. Holmes entered as a pinch hitter in the top of the sixth inning and remained in the contest at shortstop in the bottom half of the inning. He finished 0-for-2 in his second All-Star appearance for the Beach Bums.
Florence's Reggie Watson earned MVP honors. He was 3-for-4 with two triples and a double. The South plated two first inning runs and blew the game open with six runs off of Slippery Rock's Zac Cline in the fourth, scoring every inning thereafter except for the eighth.
The Beach Bums will return to action following the All-Star Break on Friday night as the Slippery Rock Sliders will again visit. The game begins at 7:05 pm and is a FANtastic Fireworks Friday. Call the ticket office today at 943-0100 to reserve your spot on Friday as the Beach Bums begin the second half with the first of 10 straight games at Wuerfel Park. LHP Ryan Gehring (2-5, 5.10) gets the ball for the Beach Bums in the opener.
