New Faces Join TFC
June 29, 2007 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Toronto FC News Release
For the third time this season, Toronto FC (4-7-1) will take on the Kansas City Wizards (6-4-2). TFC has had trouble with their Eastern Conference counterparts thus far, dropping both previous encounters by scores of 3-0 and 1-0. However, Kansas City has struggled as of late, going winless in their past three matches, and dropping their last two. TFC will also be aiming to get back on track with some new faces in the lineup this Sunday, as both forward Collin Samuel [http://mlsefans.com/index.cfm?n35167s601c1347197t616o4553] and defender Todd Dunivant [http://mlsefans.com/index.cfm?n35167s601c1347197t616o4554] will make their debuts with the club.
SCOUTING REPORT
Toronto FC at Kansas City Wizards July 1, 8:00 pm ET TV: The Score (LIVE)
Kansas City currently sits in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference with 20 points on 12 matches. Their recent slide in the past three games can probably be attributed to the absence of their leading goal-scorer, forward Eddie Johnson, who has been away on international duties with the U.S. Gold Cup team. Johnson will miss his fourth straight game to be with the National team, as they move on to compete in the Copa America tournament. Johnson will be joined by teammate Jimmy Conrad and TFC defender Marvell Wynne in representing the U.S. in the tournament. Johnson's absence is especially significant as he scored the game winning goal for Kansas City in each of the past two meetings between these two sides. Forward #17 Yura Movsisyan will try to fill Johnson's shoes up front, as he is second on the team with three goals scored.
