Braves Chop Bats 6-4 in Extra's

LOUISVILLE, KY-. Brent Lillibrigde's two-out single in the top of the tenth scoring Gregor Blanco lifted Richmond over Louisville 6-4 in 10 innings in front of 11,410 at Louisville Slugger Field. The Braves would tack on one more in the inning when Martin Prado doubled, scoring Lillibridge.
Down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Jeff Keppinger hit a two-out single to keep the Bats alive. Ryan Freel then scored on a wild pitch by Will Startup to send the game to extra innings
Starter Bobby Livingston surrendered just three hits and one run in six innings of work, but did not factor into the decision. Jason Kershner (5-4, 4.27) gave up three hits and two runs in one inning of work and took the loss for Louisville.
Richmond starter Jo-Jo Reyes went six innings and struck out seven while allowing three Bats runs. Buddy Hernandez (6-3, 2.03) struck out the side in the tenth to earn the win for Richmond.
Joey Votto hit a three-run home run in the third and went 2-for-4 on the afternoon with a walk. Reds outfielder Freel continued his rehab assignment with Louisville, going 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Votto was one of three Bats to be named to the International League All-Star team, which will be played July 11th in Albuquerque, NM. Jeff Keppinger, who currently leads the IL in batting average, and starting pitcher Phil Dumatrait were also selected.
The Bats face Richmond again tomorrow at 7:05 in the third of a four-game set. Louisville will send RHP Elizardo Ramirez (0-1, 2.45) to the mound to face Richmond's RHP Kevin Barry (3-3, 3.53).
