Ottawa Lynx News Release
OTTAWA - Lynx catcher Jason Jaramillo was selected to the International League All-Star team today. The IL will take on the best and brightest of the Pacific Coast League July 11th in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Jaramillo, 24, is hitting .268 with 4 HR and 34 RBI. His four dingers are tied for second-most on the Lynx and he sits third among Lynx players in runs batted in. He also leads the team with three triples. Jaramillo has also thrown out 28% of potential base-stealers, good for eighth in the International League. He was also named the Phillies Minor League Player of the Week for the week ending April 22nd.
The young catcher joins Lynx Manager John Russell, who was announced as the IL squad's skipper May 30th. The roster includes 28 players from all 14 IL clubs. The PCL will announce their roster tomorrow.
There is one other piece of Canadian content to the IL roster. Louisville 1B Joey Votto was elected to the team as a starter. The 23-year-old is a native of Toronto. A complete International League All-Star roster is attached.
New All-Star Jason Jaramillo leads the Lynx back to town this weekend for a four-game set against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Saturday is Skratch's Birthday and he will be celebrating with all his mascot buddies.
