June 27, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons infielders Ryan Mulhern and Luis Rivas have been selected to their 2007 All-Star Team. The players will represent the IL as reserves in the 20th annual Triple-A All-Star game from Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday, July 11.

The players will be joined by Bisons manager Torey Lovullo, who was selected last month to be an All-Star Coach.

Mulhern, 26, is excelling in his first season at the Triple-A level. He leads all active Bisons in each triple crown category with a .308 batting average (12th in the IL), 11HR (T6th in the IL) and 42RBI (T9th in the IL). He is also tops on the team in doubles (22, T4th in IL), runs scored (37) and slugging percentage (.536, 5th in IL). He drove in a Bisons season-high six runs on April 16 in Columbus and homered in consecutive games, April 24 against Syracuse and April 27 in Pawtucket.

The Cleveland Indians' 11th round selection of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft, Mulhern has hit 70 home runs in 463 career minor league games. He hit 32HR at Single-A Kinston and Double-A Akron in 2005 and was given the Lou Boudreau Award for the Player of the Year in the Indians farm system. Last season, he hit 15HR and drove in 69 for the Aeros.

Rivas, 27, is hitting .263 (72-274) with 8HR and 33RBI in his first season with the Bisons. He has 10 stolen bases, tied for the most on the active roster. He's also second on the active roster in runs scored (36), triples (3) and extra-base hits (22).

Rivas was signed as a free agent by the Cleveland Indians on January 2, 2007. He has played 565 games at the Major League level, spending five seasons as the primary second baseman for the Minnesota Twins (2000-2001). During that time, he hit .262 with 30HR, 177RBI and 78 stolen bases with the Twins.
