Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks looked to be cruising towards their third straight victory and their 13th out of 16 games, then suddenly found themselves hanging on. Bakersfield scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth to close the gap, but Lancaster held on for a 9-7 win Monday night at Clear Channel Stadium. The win puts the JetHawks alone in first place in the Southern Division's second half race.

The starting pitching once again excelled for the JetHawks. Kris Johnson went seven innings for the first time in his professional career, surrendering just one run along the way to earn his fourth win of the season.

There was plenty of offense as well, sparked by Bubba Bell. Bell hit a three-run homer to give the JetHawks an early lead, then added another three-run homer in the fourth inning to help blow the game open. Bell finished 3-5 with the two homers and 6 RBI. He now has 20 home runs on the season.

Zach Daeges and Scott White each added two hits in the JetHawks win. Christian Lara scored two runs.

The JetHawks continue their seven game homestand Tuesday night at Clear Channel Stadium against the Bakersfield Blaze. John Barnes (1-2, 7.18) pitches for Lancaster against Bakersfield's Andrew Walker (2-8, 5.68). The game starts at 7:00 PM and will be broadcast on radio at Magic 1340 AM, as well as on internet at www.JetHawks.com. The pre-game show starts at 6:45.

It is a Tumbleweed Tuesday at Clear Channel Stadium. Reserved-section tickets will cost just $1 each with the 10 MPH wind discount.

Great tickets for most JetHawks home games are available now. Contact the JetHawks box office by phone at (661) 726-5400 or online at www.JetHawks.com.
