Thunder Drop Third Straight to Erie

(Erie, PA)- Jeff Larish's two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth gave the Erie SeaWolves a 5-4 win over the Thunder on Monday night. The loss drops Trenton to 2-5 on their current 11-game roadtrip.

Trailing 3-1, Trenton (47-27) came from behind to take a 4-3 lead. C P.J. Pilittere hit a two-run homer off reliever Ramon Colon in the 7th Inning to tie the game and Matt Carson added an RBI double in the top of the eighth for a 4-3 lead. But in the bottom of the inning, Erie C Steve Torrealba singled off Jason Jones with one out. Larish then hit a two-run opporsite-field homer off lefthanded reliever Zach Kroenke for a 5-4 lead. Kroenke (0-1) took the loss allowing hits to the only two batters that he faced.

The win went to Colon (1-0), who allowed threes runs in two innings of relief. Alan Mills worked a 1-2-3 9th Inning to earn a save for the second straight day and his 5th of the year.

Erie (41-33) had a 2-0 lead off Thunder starter Alan Horne after three innings, but Trenton got a run back in the 4th inning on a doubleplay ground ball. The SeaWolves made it a 3-1 lead in the 6th Inning on an RBI single by 3B Nick McIntyre. Horne allowed two runs (one earned) in five innings. Meanwhile, Erie starter Andrew Kown held the Thunder to one run and six hits in six innings.

The Thunder begin a series against the Altoona Curve on Tuesday at 7:05 PM. Ian Kennedy (3-1, 3.00) starts for Trenton against Altoona's Kip Bouknight (7-3, 3.99).

Notes... - LF Noah Hall had two hits to extend his team-best hitting streak to 11 games. Hall has a .425 BA (17x40) during the streak. - Thunder 2B Gabe Lopez had all three errors in the game for Trenton. He had only committed four errors on the season prior to tonight's game.
