Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

The Harrisburg Senators put together two three-run innings, beating the Binghamton Mets 6-2 at NYSEG Stadium Monday. The Senators took three of four in the series, handing the B-Mets their fifth loss in six games.

Harrisburg (28-48) took the lead in the third. Michael Devaney began the inning by walking pitcher Mike O'Connor, before Marcos Yepez singled and Dan Dement walked, loading the bases with no outs. Devaney (2-6) then threw a wild pitch, scoring O'Connor, before Josh Whitesell singled in Yepez and Steven Mortimer hit into a double play that brought in Dement for a 3-0 Senators lead.

The B-Mets (31-41) got a run back in the fourth. Mark Kiger led off the frame by doubling off O'Connor (1-0) before Drew Butera scored him with a two-out double, pulling Binghamton within 3-1.

However, Mortimer hit a three-run homer in the fifth that increased Harrisburg's lead to 6-1. Caleb Stewart led off Binghamton half of the seventh with a longball of his own for the game's final run.

Tuesday, the B-Mets continue their nine-game homestand with a doubleheader against the Akron Aeros. Bobby Parnell (0-1, 3.71) and Salvador Aguilar (2-3, 6.41) will start for the B-Mets against Jake Dittler (2-1, 3.33) and Joe Ness (4-1, 5.43) of Akron. Game time is 5:35 from NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast starting at 5:20 on ESPN 1360 WYOS before moving over to Newsradio 1290 WNBF at 6:00. Notes: B-Mets relievers Brandon Nall, Joe Serfass and Marcelo Perez combined for four hitless innings of relief, retiring 12 of the 13 they faced.
