Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Thanks to bad weather and a first time starting pitcher, Winston-Salem won 2-0 and was able to hand Wilmington their first loss of the second half in a rain shortened five-inning game on Monday night at Ernie Shore Field. Brian Omogrosso, who was making his first start as a professional and first since he was in high school, breezed through the Blue Rocks lineup to earn the win.

Winston-Salem took the lead early as Robbie Hudson doubled off Jason Godin to start the game and scored on an RBI single by Micah Schnurstein to give the Warthogs a 1-0 lead. The Warthogs added a run in the fifth inning on a solo homerun from Schnurstein to take a 2-0 lead. It was his league leading 17th homerun.

After the fifth inning came to a conclusion, the skies opened up and the game was delayed. After over an hour delay, the field was ruled unplayable and the game was called. Omogrosso (4-2) dominated the Blue Rocks lineup, as he held them scoreless on two hits while striking out four to pick up the win. Godin (0-3) allowed both runs in his five innings and took the loss for Wilmington.

The final game of the three game series is set for Tuesday, June 26 at Ernie Shore Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 PM with Winston-Salem sending LHP Clayton Richard (5-4, 3.61) to the mound. The Warthogs offense will square off against RHP Blake Johnson (4-6, 4.43).
