Kinston, NC-The Salem Avalanche, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros, had its game with Kinston rained out Monday night at Grainger Stadium. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM.
Rain began to fall heavily at the stadium starting just after 4:00 Monday. The teams were stalled for two hours and 12 minutes the day before as well.
In the first seven-inning game, Salem will send right-hander Sergio Perez to the hill against Carolina League newcomer Steven Wright. Then, in the second game, Avalanche lefty Chris Salamida opposes righty Kevin Dixon.
Salem returns home Wednesday for a three-game series with Winston-Salem. The opener starts at 7:07 PM.
