Lake Elsinore Storm News Release

Lake Elsinore, CA June 24, 2007 - San Diego Padres outfielder Brian Giles is scheduled to begin his rehabilitation assignment Monday night in Lake Elsinore as a member of their Single-A affiliate Lake Elsinore Storm. Giles has been sidelined since May 20 with a bruised bone in his right knee. Monday night is "Nothing Night" at The Diamond which means no tickets, no concessions, no music, no video board...nothing. Fans will be able to enjoy baseball the old fashioned way at an old fashioned price - FREE. Game time is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. and gates will open at 6:00 p.m.

Giles hopes to be activated by June 29 when the Padres open a three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The MLB veteran will spend three days with the Storm and is expected to play the first two games in the field and the final day as a designated hitter according to Padres officials. Lake Elsinore is often the rehab location of choice for the Padres as the stadium is just a little over an hour away from PETCO Park in San Diego. Last season, Storm fans had the privilege of seeing several major-leaguers rehab at The Diamond including Ryan Klesko, Dave Roberts, Mike Cameron, Woody Williams, Doug Brocail, and Darin Erstad.

The Storm open a four-game homestand tonight at The Diamond against the Seattle Mariners affiliate High Desert Mavericks. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Storm ticket office, over the phone by calling 951-245-HITS, or online at stormbaseball.com.
