Dorn Signs With Cardinals

Marion, IL - Southern Illinois Miners first baseman Tim Dorn has become the first player in the teams' history to sign with an affiliated Major League team, signing a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Dorn, who leaves the Frontier League and the Miners tops in home runs with 12, heads to the Cardinals Midwest League affiliate, the Swing of the Quad Cities, with a five game hit streak, a batting average of .349 and 35 RBI.
The Miners first baseman is relishing his opportunity with the Cardinals. "I appreciate another opportunity to get a chance with a Major League team. This has been something I have worked for and would like to thank those who have helped me take this step."
Southern Illinois manager Mike Pinto called the opportunity a happy day for all involved saying, "I as a manager and we as an organization couldn't be more thrilled for Tim."
The Miners will host the Evansville Otters Tuesday night at Rent One Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM
