Brad Correll Joins Aaron Bates in the Cal League Record Book

Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - In the 63-year history of the California League leading into the this season, no one had ever hit four home runs in a single game. It has now happened twice within the span of five weeks at Clear Channel Stadium, both by JetHawks. Brad Correll, playing just his fifth game with Lancaster, hit four runs as the JetHawks routed the High Desert Mavericks 16-4 Saturday night in front of 3,235 fans at the Hangar. Correll joins teammate Aaron Bates as the only players in the Cal League to have hit four homers.

Correll also broke a JetHawks franchise record with eight RBI. Five players in JetHawks history had driven in seven in a game, most recently Mark Reynolds June 19 of last season.

The history-making night started in the very first inning when Correll hit a two-run homer to put Lancaster up 3-0. He added a solo shot in the third inning, a three-run blast in the sixth, and another two-run home run in the eighth inning.

All the offense was more than enough for starter Matt Goodson. Goodson held the Mavericks to just two runs on three hits in his six innings of work to earn his second win of the season.

In a coincidental but quite appropriate nod to his new company in the record book, Aaron Bates added a solo home run of his own in the win. Luis Soto contributed with three hits, while Bubba Bell and Tony Granadillo each knocked two hits.

The JetHawks continue their seven game homestand Saturday night at Clear Channel Stadium against the High Desert Mavericks. Justin Masterson (5-5, 5.06) pitches for Lancaster. The game starts at 5:00 PM and will be broadcast on radio at Magic 1340 AM, as well as on internet at www.JetHawks.com. The pre-game show starts at 4:45.

Great tickets for most JetHawks home games are available now. Contact the JetHawks box office by phone at (661) 726-5400 or online at www.JetHawks.com.
