Tennessee Tied For First Place With The Huntsville Stars

(Sevierville, TN) June 15th- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx jumped out to an early lead and hung on to defeat the Tennessee Smokies 4-2 in game three of the five game series from Smokies Park. Even with the loss, Tennessee is currently in a tie for first place with the Huntsville Stars, who dropped a doubleheader to the Birmingham Barons.

Robert Rohrbaugh danced in and out of trouble as he shutout the Smokies thru six innings. Rohrbaugh (7-4) allowed nine hits with one walk and three strikeouts in the victory. Left-hander David Asher got the final two outs to record his first save in his first appearance in Double-A ball. Prentice Redman and Luis Valbuena had two hits and a RBI each to lead the Diamond Jaxx offense.

Mark Holliman suffered the loss for the Smokies, dropping his record to 6-5 on the season. Holliman allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work. Matt Craig provided the Smokies offense with a two run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Game four of the five game series takes place on Saturday night at 6:15 CDT. Right-hander Joe Woerman (2-3 3.34) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will counter with lefty Donnie Veal (3-4 6.00).
