PEARL, MS - The BayBears have tied their season high for consecutive wins, beating Mississippi Friday 4-1 for their fourth straight victory. Chris Rahl hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning off Zach Schreiber (3-2), who suffered the loss. The BayBears first run came in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Justin Upton. The game had a one-hour rain delay in the third inning.
After Esmerling Vasquez threw two perfect innings to start the game, Clint Goocher allowed one run in the next three innings in relief. A.J. Shappi pitched a scoreless sixth through eighth innings, and Matt Elliott left the bases loaded in the ninth inning for his fourth save of the season.
The Braves remain in first place in the Southern League South Division, with second place Jacksonville trailing by just one game with two games to play in the first half.
