Stampeder Training Camp - Day 11

June 13, 2007 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release

(Calgary) - Today marked the second last day of practice and preparation for the Stampeders before they showcase their skills under the lights against their Alberta rivals, the Edmonton Eskimos, on Friday night. With training camp almost over, pre-season jitters have turned into team chemistry as the Stamps continue to sharpen their play on offense, defense and special teams.

PLAYS THAT STOOD OUT...

Fans looked on in the morning to see Ryan Cubit boot around the defense and throw a perfect pass to J.R. Tolver near the sideline. Akili Smith also joined in on the aerial attack, as he teamed up with fellow Oregon Duck alumnus Keenan Howry for a deep pass over coverage into the end zone for a touchdown. The morning was not a complete offensive showcase, as Jermaine Chatman deprived the offense of their second long touchdown pass by knocking the ball down one-handed while diving to the turf.

The afternoon practice saw Tearrius George dash into the offensive backfield to obstruct the passing lane and block a forward pass. Adrian Ward knocked down a pass of his own very close to the goal line while the defense was defending the red zone. However, the play of the afternoon was when Henry Burris deceived the defense with a play-action fake only to boot around and lob a pass to veteran receiver Markus Howell on a corner pattern with no defenders in sight.
