Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

DAVENPORT, IA -- Carlos Peguero's bat and Kyle Parker's arm were all the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers needed to beat the Swing of the Quad Cities on Wednesday afternoon. Peguero hit a three-run home run in the top of the first; Kyle Parker allowed one run over six innings; and the Rattlers beat the Swing 5-2 at John O'Donnell Stadium to win their second straight game.

The Rattlers (19-45) had two out and none on base in the first inning. Then, Trevor Lawhorn and Reed Eastley drew back-to-back walks against Swing starter Elvis Hernandez. Peguero deposited a 3-1 pitch from Hernandez over the wall in rightcenter for his fifth homer of the season and a 3-0 lead.

Quad Cities (36-29) got on the board in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Wilmer Alvarado. But, that was all the Swing would get off Parker. He allowed three hits and struck out five over six innings. The right hander retired the final eight batters he faced before turning the game over to the bullpen.

Wisconsin tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth. A wild pitch allowed Lawhorn to score from third base for a 4-1 lead. An RBI single by Alex Liddi made it 5-1 Rattlers.

Rattler reliever Ricky Orta left after allowing a one-out walk in the bottom of the ninth inning. Alvarado knocked in the runner with a double off Brian Kappel. But, Kappel got the final two outs to close out the Rattler win.

The Rattlers and Swing conclude their series Thursday night. Nathan Adcock (1-5, 4.14) is the scheduled starter for Wisconsin. Brad Furnish (0-3, 3.12) is set to start for Quad Cities. Game time is 7:00pm.
