Memphis Redbirds News Release
Memphis, Tenn. - Nashville punched out 17 Memphis batters Monday night at AutoZone Park en route to a 7-1 Sounds victory.
Nashville starter Chris Oxspring settled in after a leadoff home run from Skip Schumaker to strike out 10 batters over six innings. The right-hander allowed one run on five hits with two walks to earn his sixth win of the season and his fourth straight win. Dennis Sarfate and former Redbird Luther Hackman fanned seven over the final three innings to run the total to 17 on the night. For Memphis it set a new season-high surpassing the old total of 15 set at Nashville on May 23.
Joe Dillon drove in a pair of runs along with Jose Macias to help lead the Sounds. Vinny Rottino delivered the lead in the fourth inning on a Nick Stavinoha error that scored two runs. Rottino finished the night with two hits. Brendan Ryan and Stavinoha led Memphis with two hits each.
Redbirds starter Mike Parisi took the loss after giving up five runs, one earned, on five hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Memphis will square off against Nashville in a marquee pitching match-up tomorrow night. Brewers top prospect Yovani Gallardo will face Memphis' Anthony Reyes in a game scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
